With reference to Lord Ripon's Despatch

No. 57 of the 30th. March, 1893, I have the honour to inform

you that the Colonial Treasurer reports that the regular

monthly payments next year will come to about $450,000.

It would appear, therefore, that the time

has arrived for a revision of the amounts of the balances

with the local Banks as laid down in Lord Ripon's Despatch

under reference, and I have the honour to recommend that the

to tal be increased from $350,000 to a sum of $450,000, divided

as follows.-

Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation...$250,000.

Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China. 200, 000.
